Last day before One Lap: registration at South Bend, IN (Waterford Estates hotel)

Today we arrived at Waterford Estates hotel in South Bend, where the registration and tech is headquartered. I met Brock Yates Jr. in person for the first time (we'd spoken a few times on the phone previously) and after the cars were successfully unloaded from the trailer, I got through one of the first trials of One Lap relatively well: stickering up the car while working outdoors, in the wind, and for a while, in the rain.

I'm pretty OCD about stuff that doesn't really matter (like how straight and bubble-free decals on my car are) so having to rush through the process of putting the stickers on the cat actually stressed me out. Doug helped a lot by verifying whether stickers were straight before applying them to the car, and made most of the decisions on their layout (with only a modicum of micromanagement from me). And also by speaking to me in a calm, controlled voice, like a you might handle a cornered, scared animal.

My main concern was leaving enough white space around the RezDawg Rescue logos so they they didn't look crowded. I think it came out pretty well.

Here's me attempting to hide from the wind, against the wall of the hotel, behind a bush, while I was trimming down the number plates by 5/8" along the top and bottom, to fit where we elected to place them, above the "Z06" emblems on the front fenders:

The mandatory tire branding process at the tech inspection is to discourage cheating (replacing tires at any time during One Lap is prohibited, other than in the case of unrepairable tire damage from running over debris):

By the way, Brock likes to assign the car numbers to indicate his best guess as to the finishing order of the One Lap teams. With 88 teams registered this year, 23rd overall may be about right. We'll see.

Tomorrow is the wet skid pad, which Doug will drive; then on to Autobahn south road course, where I'll run this first time trials event... there's only one track session at Autobahn as opposed to the usual morning and afternoon, so there will only be an opportunity for one driver to experience Autobahn south.

I've been watching the video below of Autobahn south to familiarize; I hope I can set a decent lap time here, as it sets the running order for the rest of the event.

Here are some of the other cars in the Waterford Estates parking lot, before One Lap 2018 actually begins... if I wasn't so stressed out about the event, I'd have been better able to enjoy the "car show" that this constituted:
